Job Description & Details

This is a hands-on, boots-on-the-ground warehouse and logistics gig based out of Houston for someone who isn't afraid of physical work and operational details. You will be knee-deep in inventory control, shipping, and handling everything from standard stock to hazardous materials. If you like keeping a fast-moving supply chain humming without getting stuck behind a desk all day, this 12-month contract is worth a look.

What You'll Actually Be Doing

Your day-to-day will involve the physical and digital movement of materials across the facility. You'll be receiving vendor shipments, inspecting goods for damage, issuing and restocking items, and packing up material to ship out to other locations. A big chunk of your time goes into operating heavy equipment like forklifts and cranes while strictly adhering to safety protocols, especially when dealing with hazardous materials. Alongside the physical lifting and hauling, you'll spend time in front of the computer entering data, maintaining logs, and ensuring inventory records match what is actually sitting on the warehouse shelves.

The Core Tech Stack

While this role relies heavily on mechanical material handling equipment like forklifts and banding machines, your digital toolkit needs to include solid Microsoft Excel skills for inventory tracking and data entry. You don't need to be an enterprise supply chain software architect, but you do need to know your way around spreadsheets, data logging, and basic inventory management systems. Being able to quickly log shipments and reconcile stock counts without making errors is what separates a smooth warehouse operation from a logistical nightmare.

Interview Expectations

When you talk to the hiring manager, expect them to test your commitment to safety and your ability to handle repetitive, physical tasks under pressure. They might ask you to describe a time you caught a discrepancy in a shipment or inventory count and how you resolved it, looking to see if you have the attention to detail required to prevent costly stock errors. They are also going to gauge your familiarity with hazardous materials handling, so be ready to talk about safety compliance and how you operate heavy machinery like forklifts without cutting corners.

Application Advice

To get past the ATS for this role, make sure your resume explicitly highlights any past warehouse, shipping, receiving, or inventory management experience you have, even if it's entry-level. Keywords like "Microsoft Excel," "inventory management," "shipping/receiving," and "hazardous materials handling" need to be front and center. Since this is an onsite role requiring physical stamina and local presence in Houston, clearly state your location and your comfort working in both warehouse and outdoor environments right at the top of your resume.
