Job Description & Details

If you've spent the last several years wrestling with legacy SCCM environments while trying to drag them kicking and screaming into an Intune-first, co-managed cloud utopia, this gig is right in your wheelhouse. They need a senior operational owner who doesn't just talk architecture, but can roll up their sleeves and actually build out bulletproof M365 E5, Autopilot, and patching strategies without breaking production for ten thousand users.

What You'll Actually Be Doing

Expect to spend your days knee-deep in endpoint management modernization, untangling deeply rooted SCCM configurations, and establishing clean cloud-first migration paths. You'll architect deployment rings for Windows updates, build robust Win32 app packaging pipelines, and troubleshoot why a handful of stubborn remote machines keep falling out of compliance. You'll also interface constantly with the Security and Helpdesk teams to make sure your patch cadences and policy updates tighten security postures without drawing the ire of the executive suite.

The Core Tech Stack

You must live and breathe Microsoft Intune, SCCM (Microsoft Configuration Manager), and the broader M365 E5 ecosystem including Entra ID and Defender. PowerShell isn't optional here; you'll need advanced scripting capabilities for proactive remediations, automation workflows, and wrangling the Microsoft Graph API. Deep experience with Windows Autopilot, software distribution, MSI/Win32 app packaging, and Windows Update for Business rounds out the absolute non-negotiables for this infrastructure.

Interview Expectations

The hiring panel will likely grill you on a complex scenario involving a co-management transition failure or an endpoint policy conflict causing massive compliance drop-offs; they want to see your troubleshooting methodology under pressure. They'll also test your advanced PowerShell logic by asking you to construct a script on the fly for proactive endpoint remediation, measuring how well you balance edge-case error handling with performance at scale.

Application Advice

Skip the generic system admin buzzwords and explicitly highlight your hands-on migrations from on-prem SCCM to cloud-managed Intune environments. Make sure keywords like 'Windows Autopilot', 'Win32 app packaging', 'co-management', 'Microsoft Graph', and 'proactive remediations' are front and center in your resume to clear the initial ATS filters with ease.
