Job Description & Details
This is a heavy-duty Technical Business Analyst role focused on untangling complex application ecosystems, documenting data lineage, and driving software integration and automation. You'll spend a lot of time mapping out undocumented workflows and bridging the gap between non-technical stakeholders and hardcore engineering teams.
What You'll Actually Be Doing
You'll live in the intersection of business operations and system architecture. Your day-to-day involves running discovery sessions with cross-functional teams, building out detailed swimlane diagrams in Visio, and tracing data flows across inbound and outbound exchanges. You aren't just taking meeting notes; you're actively challenging assumptions, finding operational risks, translating raw business needs into user stories in Rally, and wiping out reliance on tribal knowledge.
The Core Tech Stack
You need absolute fluency in Microsoft Visio for creating rigorous cross-functional workflow and swimlane diagrams. Experience with Agile delivery tools like Broadcom Rally (CA Agile Central) is non-negotiable because you'll be managing backlogs and user stories. On top of that, you must understand system integrations, APIs, data exchanges, and how to trace data lineage across complex architectures.
Interview Expectations
The hiring manager is going to probe hard on how you handle ambiguous situations and undocumented processes. Expect them to ask you to describe a time when you had to untangle a messy, legacy system integration with zero existing documentation, and how you mapped out the data lineage. They want to see if you can independently lead discovery sessions and push back on stakeholders who give vague requirements. They're also likely to test your technical comprehension of APIs, data mapping, and how you translate those concepts into clean functional requirements.
Application Advice
Your resume needs to scream technical depth rather than just high-level project management. Make sure you explicitly highlight your 7+ years as a Technical Business Analyst or Systems Analyst with strong keyword hits for 'data lineage', 'API integrations', 'swimlane diagrams', and 'Broadcom Rally'. Don't just list tasks; highlight measurable outcomes where your functional documentation and process discovery successfully cleared technical blockers and accelerated an integration or modernization project.
