Maximo Solution Architect

Idexcel, Inc.

Job Description & Details

This is a heavy-hitting architecture role focused entirely on IBM Maximo and MAS ecosystems, requiring someone who can comfortably bridge legacy systems with modern cloud infrastructure. If you enjoy untangling complex integration webs between Maximo, SAP, and various cloud platforms while keeping enterprise stakeholders aligned, this 12-month contract is right up your alley. You won't just be drawing diagrams; you'll be actively driving end-to-end technical delivery and squashing architectural debt.

What You'll Actually Be Doing

Expect to spend your days acting as the ultimate technical escalation point, jumping into thorny production issues and figuring out why an integration with SAP or a JMS messaging queue is throwing a fit. You'll review design decisions made by engineering teams, challenge them when they threaten long-term maintainability, and balance technical tradeoffs like scalability, security, performance, and cost with business units. Much of your time will also be spent orchestrating multi-workstream programs, keeping cloud migrations (AWS, OpenShift, EKS) and Maximo upgrades moving forward without getting bogged down in cross-team friction.

The Core Tech Stack

Deep mastery of IBM Maximo (from version 6 all the way up to MAS 9) is non-negotiable, alongside hands-on knowledge of its core modules like Asset Management, Work Management, and the Integration Framework. You need to know your way around enterprise integrations—specifically tying Maximo into SAP, SAP S/4HANA, REST services, and XML-based interfaces. On the infrastructure side, familiarity with AWS, Kubernetes, OpenShift/ROSA, and Oracle RDS is critical, plus scripting prowess in Java, Jython, Python, and SQL to keep the custom logic sound.

Interview Expectations

The hiring team is going to test your battle scars regarding large-scale migrations and system integrations. Be ready for a scenario-based question about migrating a massive enterprise instance from Maximo 7.6.x to MAS 9 while minimizing downtime and dealing with custom Java classes that break during the transition. They want to see how you troubleshoot silently failing asynchronous integrations with SAP under heavy load, so be prepared to walk through your exact root-cause analysis methodology and how you prevent future technical debt.

Application Advice

Your resume needs to scream Maximo Enterprise Architecture rather than just routine administration. Make sure you explicitly highlight large-scale transformations, MAS upgrades, cloud modernization efforts on AWS or OpenShift, and complex integrations with SAP or PeopleSoft. Drop exact version numbers and integration technologies right into your experience bullets so you easily pass the automated ATS keyword filters and immediately catch the hiring manager's eye.
