Agile Scrum Master / Product Owner

Genesis10

Job Description & Details

This is a heavy-hitting Product Owner and Scrum Master role embedded within the Equity Capital Markets technology group of a major financial institution. You'll be sitting at the intersection of high-stakes trading desks and software delivery, owning the workflows that drive multi-million-dollar deal originations and IPO execution. If you enjoy wrangling complex stakeholder demands and translating fast-moving financial pipelines into clean backlog items, this one will keep you on your toes.

What You'll Actually Be Doing

Your typical week involves playing translator and traffic controller between front-office traders, senior business executives, and cross-functional engineering squads. You'll spend plenty of time running backlog grooming sessions, refining epics and user stories for deal pipelines, and making real-time trade-off decisions on scope when regulatory or market conditions shift. Managing outsourced vendor deliverables alongside in-house tech is also a massive part of the puzzle here, meaning you'll need to keep third-party teams accountable for quality and velocity without stepping on toes.

The Core Tech Stack

While you won't be writing production code, you live and breathe Jira and Confluence to keep scaled Agile teams synchronized. A deep, functional grasp of Equity Capital Markets (IPOs, follow-ons, primary markets) and DCM workflows is non-negotiable—you cannot fake domain knowledge here. Familiarity with BI tools, Visio, MS Project, and SharePoint will round out your daily toolkit for roadmapping and stakeholder presentations.

Interview Expectations

The hiring managers are going to probe deeply into how you handle conflicting priorities between aggressive front-office traders and rigid compliance frameworks. Expect a situational question like: "A critical deal origination feature is delayed by an outsourced vendor, but the trading desk insists on a hard launch date next week—walk us through your exact escalation and triage steps." They aren't looking for textbook Agile answers; they want to see your real-world pragmatism, risk assessment skills, and how you protect your engineering team from scope creep.

Application Advice

To get past the ATS, your resume needs to explicitly feature keywords like "Equity Capital Markets," "Deal Origination," "Agile Product Owner," and "Jira/Confluence." Don't just list your past job titles; quantify your impact by highlighting the size of the backlogs you've managed, the cross-functional teams you've led, and your direct experience working with trading floors or financial front offices. Make sure your profile screams financial tech domain expertise from the very first bullet point.
