Job Description & Details
This is a short-term, 2-month onsite contract role focused on processing routine detailing work and supporting order-entry processes for a manufacturing company. If you enjoy hands-on administrative and technical document preparation that directly impacts shop floor execution, this gig gets straight to the point without unnecessary red tape.
What You'll Actually Be Doing
Your day-to-day will revolve around interpreting customer orders and translating them into actionable, accurate product documentation. You'll be creating bills-of-material (BOMs), mapping out manufacturing routings, and running basic design calculations like weight, clearance, and counterbalance. Expect to field questions from Customer Care and collaborate closely with internal teams to clear up any ambiguous product configurations before they hit the manufacturing floor.
The Core Tech Stack
You don't need a heavy computer science background here, but you do need to be dangerously comfortable with Microsoft Excel and Word for tracking and documentation. Familiarity with ERP systems like Oracle EBS or Oracle Cloud is a huge bonus since you'll be punching data directly into the system. More than anything, your real toolkit will consist of a strong math foundation, the ability to read blueprints, and a meticulous eye for detail.
Interview Expectations
The hiring manager is likely going to test your mathematical aptitude and how you handle conflicting technical specifications under a tight deadline. They might throw a scenario at you where a customer order is missing key dimensions or has conflicting configuration rules, and they want to see how proactively you communicate to resolve it. Be ready to explain a time when a small oversight on your part could have ruined a project and how your attention to detail saved the day, as they are secretly looking for absolute accuracy over speed.
Application Advice
To get past the automated screen, make sure your resume highlights any past experience in a manufacturing or product development environment, even if it's just academic shop work. Explicitly sprinkle keywords like bills-of-material, manufacturing routings, blueprint reading, and ERP systems into your experience bullets. Show them you understand mechanical workflows and that you won't need hand-holding when it comes to basic algebra and physics calculations.
