Job Description & Details
This is a hands-on IT Project Manager role embedded within a major global financial institution, focusing heavily on technology implementations, infrastructure upgrades, and voice tech conversions. You will be acting as the bridge between technical execution and business stakeholders, meaning you need to be comfortable handling matrixed resources and navigating corporate bureaucracy. If you like driving large-scale infrastructure projects across multiple cities without getting bogged down by endless red tape, this contract is worth a serious look.
What You'll Actually Be Doing
Your day-to-day will revolve around herding cats across various lines of business using matrix management to keep complex technology deliverables on track. You'll be balancing aggressive technical timelines with real-world scheduling constraints, frequently presenting project health, risks, and mitigation strategies to senior leadership. Expect to handle change management using enterprise tools while actively reallocating resources when project priorities inevitably shift. Occasional evening and weekend work will be required to shepherd major system upgrades and conversions safely across the finish line.
The Core Tech Stack
While you won't be writing code, you need a solid grasp of enterprise infrastructure and telecom ecosystems—specifically Cisco, IPC, and NICE voice technologies. Familiarity with IT service management platforms is non-negotiable, so expect to live inside BMC Remedy and ServiceNow for change control and system tracking. A foundational understanding of basic networking principles like IP management and DHCP will also keep you out of trouble when coordinating infrastructure moves. Of course, heavy proficiency across the standard Microsoft Productivity suite is assumed for managing schedules, documentation, and stakeholder communications.
Interview Expectations
When you get on the call with the hiring team, expect them to test your ability to handle scope creep and resource contention under pressure. They will likely ask you to describe a time a critical project went off the rails due to a missed telecom dependency and how you recovered the schedule without burning out your team. They are secretly looking for pragmatic problem-solving, emotional intelligence when dealing with stressed senior stakeholders, and your concrete methodology for assessing risk before it halts deployment.
Application Advice
To get past the automated ATS and grab the recruiter's attention, make sure your resume explicitly highlights your experience with matrix management, telecom or voice infrastructure rollouts, and enterprise change management tools like ServiceNow and BMC Remedy. Don't just list tasks; emphasize your track record of managing enterprise budgets, aligning technical milestones with business goals, and successfully presenting risk mitigation strategies to executive leadership.
