Job Description & Details
This is a heavy-hitting, long-term contract role building enterprise-grade applications for New York State. You will step in as a senior technical leader responsible for architectural decisions, direct stakeholder communication, and guiding releases from conception to production in a hybrid setup based out of Albany.
What You'll Actually Be Doing
You will spend your days bridging the gap between non-technical stakeholders and the engineering team, turning complex business requirements into clean, scalable architecture. Expect to design robust backend services, oversee the development of modern front-end components, and mentor other engineers while actively writing code, enforcing standards, and troubleshooting performance bottlenecks across the entire stack.
The Core Tech Stack
You need deep, battle-tested expertise in Microsoft .Net Core, C#, and Entity Framework Core for the backend, combined with modern front-end frameworks like Vue.js and Angular. Because this role requires heavy integration work, your ability to architect and consume both SOAP and RESTful web services is non-negotiable. Add in strong SQL Server skills—writing complex queries, stored procedures, and views—plus a solid grasp of responsive design using Bootstrap, HTML5, CSS3, and SASS to handle the UI layer.
Interview Expectations
Since this is an in-person interview with a direct state client, they are going to grill you on your system design capabilities and your experience leading major releases. Be ready for them to ask how you handle breaking changes in a RESTful API consumed by both Angular and Vue.js front-ends, and how you would structure a massive database refactoring in SQL Server without causing downtime. The hiring manager isn't just looking for syntax knowledge; they want to see how you troubleshoot under pressure and whether you can mentor junior devs when a production deployment goes sideways.
Application Advice
With a strict requirement of 13+ years of overall experience and specific month-counts for various technologies, your resume needs to explicitly mirror the language used in the job description. Do not just list skills; state the exact duration you worked with .Net Core, C#, Vue.js, Angular, and MS SQL Databases to ensure you clear the automated ATS filters and the strict compliance checks for this state contract.
