Job Description & Details
This is a specialized contract role focused on keeping a critical healthcare interoperability engine humming. You will be hands-on with Smile CDR architecture, ensuring that patient data flows seamlessly while meeting stringent compliance and regulatory standards.
What You'll Actually Be Doing
You'll spend your days configuring, managing, and troubleshooting Smile CDR environments from development all the way to production. Expect to dive deep into managing repositories, channels, partitions, and API configurations, while keeping an eye on platform health and performance. A lot of your time will go toward supporting FHIR R4 repositories, sorting out data ingestion hiccups, and collaborating with architecture and engineering teams to align with CMS and ONC interoperability mandates.
The Core Tech Stack
You need absolute fluency in Smile CDR administration and HL7 FHIR (R4) standards. This isn't a role where you can fake your way through API integrations; you'll be configuring REST APIs, managing OAuth 2.0 security, and handling JSON/XML data payloads daily. Solid Linux fundamentals, scripting skills, and a strong grasp of SQL and database performance are non-negotiable since you'll be the one diagnosing deep system integration bottlenecks.
Interview Expectations
The interviewers are going to test your battle scars with Smile CDR and FHIR-based data models. They will likely throw a real-world scenario at you involving a sluggish production repository or a broken SMART on FHIR authorization flow, asking you to trace the error from the client down to the database level. They want to see if you can methodically troubleshoot under pressure without breaking existing compliance controls.
Application Advice
Make sure your resume screams Smile CDR and healthcare interoperability right at the top. Don't just list FHIR as a skill; highlight specific instances where you managed FHIR R4 repositories or implemented CMS mandates. Weave in keywords like SMART on FHIR, OAuth 2.0, REST APIs, and production environment support so your profile instantly jumps out to the ATS as someone who can step in on day one and start configuring channels.
