Job Description & Details
This is a heavy-hitting public sector PM role centered on delivering a massive Medicaid Management Information System (MMIS) implementation. If you enjoy wrangling complex stakeholder groups, coordinating multiple vendors, and driving large-scale healthcare tech initiatives for state government, this one will keep you deeply engaged.
What You'll Actually Be Doing
You will be steering the ship from inception to go-live and certification. Your day-to-day will involve coordinating resources across state teams and external vendors via a master schedule, tracking the EDW deliverables, managing scope creep, and actively surfacing risks before they derail the timeline. You'll also be stepping up to present project progress directly to department executives and legislative bodies, so executive presence is an absolute must.
The Core Tech Stack
While you won't be writing code, you need a strong technical grasp of data aggregation, analytics, report development, and Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) architectures. Familiarity with legacy system conversions is critical here, as you'll be bridging the gap between old infrastructure and modern state Medicaid platforms. Experience with Idaho state agencies or other state Medicaid systems will instantly move your resume to the top of the stack.
Interview Expectations
Expect the hiring panel to test your crisis management and vendor coordination skills by asking how you handle a critical path delay caused by a third-party vendor missing a deadline. They want to hear that you don't just point fingers, but proactively expose issues early, leverage data to show impact, and collaborate with leadership on a mitigation strategy. They will also probe into your experience managing large budgets and scope changes in heavily regulated government environments, so bring concrete examples of how you kept past public-sector projects compliant and on track.
Application Advice
To get past the ATS and grab the recruiter's attention, make sure your resume heavily features keywords like 'Medicaid Management Information System', 'master schedule', 'risk mitigation', and 'vendor coordination'. Don't just list your past job titles; quantify your impact by highlighting multimillion-dollar healthcare or state government tech projects you've successfully driven from kickoff to certification.
