Project Manager

State of Idaho

Job Description & Details

This is a heavy-hitting public sector project management role where you will be tasked with driving the implementation of new Medicaid Management Information System modules from inception to go-live. You are going to be right in the middle of complex state bureaucracy, multiple vendors, and strict legislative oversight, making this a true test of your organizational stamina and political savvy.

What You'll Actually Be Doing

Your day-to-day will revolve around wrangling a master schedule, keeping multiple third-party vendors accountable, and making sure the Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) deliverables actually hit the mark. You'll spend a significant amount of time identifying scope creep, managing risks, and translating dense technical progress into digestible updates for department executives and state legislators. Expect to actively unearth hidden roadblocks early and align diverse state teams and vendor resources to keep the critical path moving.

The Core Tech Stack

While this isn't a coding role, you need deep operational fluency in Medicaid Management Information Systems (MMIS), Enterprise Data Warehouses (EDW), and complex legacy-to-new system data conversions. The team requires someone who intimately understands healthcare tech or state government IT landscapes, along with robust change management methodologies to drive user adoption and training without causing a mutiny among stakeholders.

Interview Expectations

When you get in front of the hiring panel, be ready to walk through a time you managed a multi-vendor project that veered off the critical path. They want to hear about your specific mitigation strategies and how you diplomatically forced accountability without alienating key stakeholders. Another heavy focus will be on legacy data conversions; expect them to grill you on how you handle data integrity risks and scope management during massive system migrations.

Application Advice

Make sure your resume screams public sector and healthcare project management before you hit submit. Do not just list generic agile or waterfall methodologies; explicitly highlight your direct experience with Medicaid agencies, state government projects, and legacy system conversions. Weave keywords like "MMIS," "EDW," "risk mitigation," and "change management" directly into your professional summary and recent project descriptions to ensure you easily clear the initial ATS filters.
