Project Manager

ID DHW

Job Description & Details

This is a heavy-hitting healthcare IT gig where you'll be driving the implementation of new Medicaid Management Information System (MMIS) modules from the ground up. You'll be dealing with complex state government stakeholders, multiple vendors, and strict federal compliance, making it a high-visibility role that directly impacts public health infrastructure.

What You'll Actually Be Doing

Your day-to-day will revolve around wrangling multiple vendors and state teams using a master schedule to keep everything on track. You will own the full lifecycle from planning through go-live and certification, which means constantly monitoring risks, tracking the critical path, and pivoting when scope or budget threats pop up. Expect to spend a significant amount of time aligning technical deliverables with executive expectations, including presenting progress directly to department leadership and state legislative bodies.

The Core Tech Stack

While this isn't a hands-on coding role, you must know your way around large-scale Enterprise Data Warehouses (EDW), data aggregation, and legacy-to-modern system data conversions. Fluency in healthcare IT systems, specifically Medicaid or state-level health agency environments, is non-negotiable here. You'll also need deep familiarity with structured project management methodologies to manage complex cross-functional implementations.

Interview Expectations

The interview panel is going to test your ability to handle vendor mismanagement and scope creep under intense political scrutiny. They will likely ask you to describe a time a critical vendor missed a major deadline on a government project and how you forced accountability without derailing the go-live date. They are secretly looking for a blend of diplomatic stakeholder management and rigid adherence to project governance. Another question will likely probe your experience with legacy system data conversions, focusing on how you mitigated risks during the final cutover phase.

Application Advice

To get past the automated screening, make sure your resume explicitly highlights your hands-on experience with Medicaid Management Information Systems (MMIS), Enterprise Data Warehouses (EDW), and state government projects. Don't just list generic project management tasks; weave in specific metrics regarding budgets managed, team sizes coordinated, and legacy data conversion successes. If you have direct experience working with Idaho state agencies or navigating CMS certification processes, make sure those achievements sit right at the top of your professional summary.
