Job Description & Details
This is a heavy-hitting architecture and automation role for someone who has spent a decade in the trenches of quality engineering. You aren't just writing scripts here; you are building scalable, enterprise-grade frameworks from scratch and establishing quality standards across multiple projects. If you enjoy solving complex architectural automation problems rather than just churning out functional test cases, this gig is worth a serious look.
What You'll Actually Be Doing
Your day-to-day will heavily revolve around designing, developing, and maintaining robust automation frameworks using tools like Selenium, TestNG, Cucumber, and Appium. You'll be building scalable hybrid and BDD automation frameworks while stitching together REST API validations and CI/CD quality gates using Jenkins. Expect to spend a lot of time writing reusable libraries, utilities, and custom framework components using Java, Python, and JavaScript, while also advocating for modern quality engineering principles across cloud platforms.
The Core Tech Stack
You absolutely need a deep foundation in Core Java or C#, alongside secondary fluency in Python, JavaScript, and Shell scripting. On the testing side, mastery of Selenium, Appium for mobile, and Cucumber for BDD is non-negotiable. Because this role touches cloud-based quality platforms on AWS, Azure, or GCP, having experience running and validating workloads in the cloud will save you a massive learning curve. Jenkins is the glue for their CI/CD pipelines, so solid pipeline integration skills are expected.
Interview Expectations
Be ready to answer a tough system design question about how you would architect a hybrid test automation framework from scratch to support both web and mobile applications across multiple cloud environments. The hiring manager is listening to see if you can balance speed and maintainability without creating a flaky maintenance nightmare. You'll also likely be grilled on how you handle asynchronous API testing failures inside a strict CI/CD pipeline, where they are secretly looking to see how you troubleshoot race conditions and flaky network calls.
Application Advice
Your resume needs to heavily feature the architecture and design of automation frameworks, not just a laundry list of tools you've used. Make sure to explicitly include keywords like 'Hybrid Framework', 'BDD', 'Selenium', 'Appium', and 'CI/CD Quality Gates' to easily clear their automated screening. Instead of just listing Java or Python, highlight specific instances where you built reusable libraries or utilities that drastically reduced execution time or increased test coverage.
