Job Description & Details
If you like getting your hands dirty with enterprise-grade physical security hardware and complex low-voltage cabling, this gig keeps you busy across a massive resort and casino footprint. You'll be maintaining everything from high-end surveillance cameras and Wi-Fi networks to weapons detection systems, all while balancing strict regulatory compliance. It's a critical role that keeps physical operations secure and prevents costly casino downtime.
What You'll Actually Be Doing
Your days will be a mix of hands-on infrastructure work and systematic troubleshooting. You'll be pulling, terminating, fusion-splicing, and certifying fiber optic and copper cabling, mounting cameras in tricky spots, and configuring hardware racks. You might be up in a boom lift one hour running cable in an active construction zone, and updating Genetec configurations or processing work orders from a desk the next. Expect to coordinate heavily with IT, facilities, and security teams while keeping meticulous documentation for regulatory audits.
The Core Tech Stack
You need a solid foundation in low-voltage systems and physical security infrastructure. Being fluent with cabling standards (fiber fusion splicing and category cable certification), reading architectural blueprints, and having hands-on experience with IP cameras and networking gear are absolute musts. Familiarity with VMS platforms like Genetec will make or break your ramp-up time here, so bring your networking and hardware diagnostic chops.
Interview Expectations
The hiring panel will likely test your troubleshooting methodology by asking how you diagnose a failing fiber run or intermittent PoE camera drop in a massive production environment. They want to see that you can methodically isolate issues from physical layer to network switch. They'll also gauge how you handle strict compliance frameworks and high-pressure situations where gaming operations cannot afford a blind spot.
Application Advice
Make sure your resume clearly highlights your hands-on low-voltage, fiber optic, or IT infrastructure experience right at the top. Don't hide your certifications; explicitly list things like Fiber Optic Installer (FOI), CompTIA, or Genetec if you have them, as these are major keys to bypassing the automated filters and proving you can hit the ground running.
