Job Description & Details
This is a hands-on DevOps role based out of Englewood, NJ, requiring local presence and an in-person interview. You will be stepping into an environment where cloud reliability, security integration, and automation are top priorities for keeping production systems stable.
What You'll Actually Be Doing
You will spend your days keeping AWS infrastructure humming, troubleshooting production fires, and bridging the gap between development and security teams. Expect to write operational runbooks, fine-tune containerized workloads on EKS, and build robust CI/CD pipelines that let devs ship code quickly without breaking production.
The Core Tech Stack
AWS is the backbone here, so you need to be comfortable navigating its core services alongside solid Linux administration and networking fundamentals. You will lean heavily on Terraform for infrastructure as code, Ansible for configuration management, and Jenkins or GitHub Actions for automation. Kubernetes and Docker are non-negotiable for running workloads, while Datadog, Splunk, or Prometheus will be your go-to tools for keeping an eye on system health.
Interview Expectations
Since this is an in-person interview, be ready for deep-dive technical whiteboard sessions where you might be asked to design a highly available, secure multi-region architecture on AWS from scratch. The hiring manager wants to see how you handle production outages, so they will likely probe your troubleshooting methodology under pressure and expect you to walk through a complex CI/CD pipeline failure you previously resolved.
Application Advice
Make sure your resume prominently features AWS, Terraform, and Kubernetes right at the top, as those are the heavy hitters the ATS and hiring managers will scan for first. Explicitly highlight any experience you have with DevSecOps tools like Snyk or SonarQube and scripting languages like Python or Bash to prove you can automate security and operations effectively.
