Job Description & Details
This is a solid hybrid contract gig for someone who lives and breathes retirement services and knows how to wrangle an Agile team. You'll be stepping in to help integrate a recently acquired company's systems and data into the main ecosystem, meaning you get to do actual, high-impact legacy migration work.
What You'll Actually Be Doing
You'll be acting as the bridge between technical execution and deep domain expertise in retirement recordkeeping. Your day-to-day will involve running Agile ceremonies, keeping stakeholders and senior leadership aligned, and translating complex operational rules around 401ks, 403bs, and compliance guidelines into actionable developer tasks. Expect to navigate the messy realities of data mapping and system consolidation while keeping the engineering team unblocked.
The Core Tech Stack
You need deep Subject Matter Expertise in Retirement Plan and Participant Administration Record Keeping. Beyond that, a solid grasp of ERISA, QDIA, hardship distributions, and loan operational components is non-negotiable. If you also understand backend data systems and have hands-on Scrum Master experience running Agile workflows, you'll fit right in with what they need to execute this merger.
Interview Expectations
They are going to test your domain authority immediately by asking you to walk through a complex edge case involving 403b/401k compliance or hardship distributions during a data migration. The hiring manager isn't just looking for textbook definitions; they want to see if you can anticipate operational risk before it breaks production. They will also probe your Scrum Master background to see how you handle engineering teams that push back on legacy data constraints.
Application Advice
Make sure your resume screams retirement operations and Agile project management right at the top. Don't hide your experience with 401k, 403b, ERISA, and recordkeeping systems in a bullet point—bring them to the forefront so the ATS flags you immediately as a domain expert, not just a generic project manager.
