Job Description & Details
This is a hands-on enterprise networking role where you will be directly responsible for keeping core infrastructure online, secure, and performant. If you enjoy untangling complex routing issues and hardening firewalls rather than sitting in endless alignment meetings, this gig is worth a serious look.
What You'll Actually Be Doing
You will spend your days managing LAN, WAN, and WLAN environments, troubleshooting sudden latency spikes, and responding to infrastructure outages before they impact the business. A big part of the job involves routine maintenance, executing network upgrades, and collaborating closely with the cybersecurity and sysadmin teams to enforce segmentation and ensure compliance.
The Core Tech Stack
You need solid, battle-tested experience with BGP, OSPF, and VLANs, alongside deep familiarity with enterprise routers, switches, and firewalls. Being able to drop into Wireshark or SolarWinds to diagnose traffic anomalies quickly is non-negotiable here, so make sure you are comfortable tracing packets and reading logs under pressure.
Interview Expectations
The hiring manager will likely test your troubleshooting methodology by walking you through a sudden BGP route leak or a hardware failover scenario, looking to see how you isolate layers in the OSI model. They also want to know how you approach firewall rule hygiene, so be ready to explain how you audit and optimize complex ACLs without breaking downstream services.
Application Advice
Make sure your resume highlights specific routing protocols and monitoring tools you have deployed in production environments rather than just listing certifications. Weave in keywords like BGP, OSPF, Wireshark, and firewall policies directly into your experience section so you easily clear the initial ATS filters.
