Job Description & Details
This is a hands-on Field Support Technician role based in Dartmouth, MA, focused on keeping end-user compute and remote site network infrastructures running smoothly. You'll be the go-to person for everything from hardware deployments to Level 2 break/fix support in a fast-paced environment.
What You'll Actually Be Doing
You'll spend your days juggling hardware and software deployments, troubleshooting LAN/WAN network issues, and handling deskside support for local users. Expect to deal with server break/fix tickets, manage UPS systems, and perform root cause analysis on recurring incidents. Keeping accurate hardware and software license inventories is also a big part of the gig, ensuring compliance while handling asset tagging and life cycle management.
The Core Tech Stack
You need a solid foundation in end-user computing hardware, operating systems, and basic networking principles like LAN and WAN configurations. Experience with server hardware, backup/storage solutions, and asset management tools will be crucial since you'll be managing physical infrastructure and tracking spare parts inventories.
Interview Expectations
Expect the hiring manager to ask you to walk them through a complex troubleshooting scenario where a remote site loses network connectivity and users can't access file shares. They want to see your systematic approach to root cause analysis and how you prioritize fixes under pressure. You'll also likely be quizzed on asset management best practices and how you ensure software license compliance during audits.
Application Advice
To get past the ATS filters, make sure your resume explicitly highlights keywords like "Level 2 support," "hardware deployment," "network troubleshooting," and "asset inventory management." Weave these terms naturally into your experience bullets rather than just listing them out, focusing on the scale of the environments you've supported in the past.
