Job Description & Details
This is a solid, hands-on Project Manager role embedded in a larger program, where you will own a clearly defined workstream rather than just pushing slides. If you enjoy wrangling complex software development lifecycles, keeping engineering teams unblocked, and actually understanding what the technical folks are saying without writing the code yourself, this gig is worth your time.
What You'll Actually Be Doing
You'll spend your days driving projects across the entire SDLC—from initial requirements and design all the way to deployment and user adoption. Expect to facilitate Scrum ceremonies, maintain meticulous work plans in Jira and Confluence, and manage risks, issues, and dependencies before they turn into fires. A major part of the human challenge here will also involve user onboarding, making sure stakeholders are trained, have proper access, and are actually adopting the new financial modeling systems you are helping roll out.
The Core Tech Stack
You don't need to be a developer, but you do need to speak the language of engineers and data folks. The absolute baseline here is deep fluency in Jira and Confluence for tracking delivery metrics and project documentation. Beyond that, you need a working familiarity with data engineering concepts, SQL, data pipelines, and Python so you can meaningfully participate in technical discussions about financial modeling systems without getting lost in the weeds.
Interview Expectations
Expect the hiring manager to press you on a specific time you managed a major release bottleneck or a failing dependency across cross-functional teams, looking closely at how you unblocked the team without stepping on engineering toes. They will also likely test your technical literacy by asking how you coordinate with data engineers building Python pipelines, probing to see if you actually understand data concepts or if you just memorize project management buzzwords.
Application Advice
Skip the generic project management fluff on your resume and tailor your bullets to highlight your specific experience with the full SDLC in Agile environments. Make sure keywords like Jira, Confluence, release management, user onboarding, and financial systems are explicitly visible so you easily clear the ATS filters. Emphasize your ability to work closely with technical teams while owning the governance and delivery metrics.
