Senior Cisco Secure Workload Engineer / Architect

Job Description & Details

If you have spent years wrangling microsegmentation and mapping messy enterprise traffic, this gig is a solid fit. This role puts you in the driver's seat for an enterprise-wide Cisco Secure Workload deployment, where you will actually get things built instead of just pushing slide decks around.

What You'll Actually Be Doing

You will spend your days bridging the gap between security mandates and functional enterprise applications. Your main focus is cutting through the architectural noise to discover application dependencies, deploy agents across Windows and Linux fleets, and gently nudge the environment from visibility-only mode into actual enforcement without breaking production. You will also be the main technical mentor for the internal team, setting up documentation and operational guardrails so they can manage the platform long after you leave.

The Core Tech Stack

You need deep, battle-tested expertise with Cisco Secure Workload (formerly Tetration) or a very close cousin in the microsegmentation space. Beyond the tool itself, success here relies on a rock-solid understanding of enterprise networking, traffic-flow analysis, and identity services. If you cannot look at a netflow dump or a packet capture and figure out why an app is screaming, you are going to struggle. Familiarity with the Cisco Cloud Protection Suite is a major plus, as is the ability to script around automation gaps in heterogeneous OS environments.

Interview Expectations

The hiring manager is going to test whether you have actually done this at scale, so expect a deep dive into failure modes. They will likely ask you to explain how you handle a scenario where a critical legacy application breaks the moment you enforce a drop policy, and they will want to hear your methodical approach to tracking down undocumented dependencies without causing an outage. They are secretly looking for someone who understands that microsegmentation is 30% technology and 70% stakeholder management and communication.

Application Advice

Skip the generic resume summary and put your exact Cisco Secure Workload experience front and center. Use the resume to explicitly highlight keywords from the spec like traffic-flow analysis, policy enforcement, and agent deployment across Windows and Linux environments. If you have successfully taken a chaotic enterprise environment from zero visibility to strict enforcement without incident, make sure that project is highlighted as a primary win.
