Job Description & Details

This is a solid, long-term contracting gig focused heavily on bridging the gap between business stakeholders and heavy-duty technical teams in the utilities sector. You will spend your days wrangling quarterly releases, untangling legacy application support, and making sure SAP IS-U integrations do not break production. If you like untangling complex system architectures and writing specs that engineers actually want to read, this one is worth your time.

What You'll Actually Be Doing

You will spend a good chunk of your day coordinating between the core dev squad and cross-functional teams touching Cloud, Infrastructure, and Security. Your primary mission is to translate high-level functional requirements into concrete technical specs, document multi-system integrations, and help triage defects. You are essentially the glue keeping quarterly releases on track while managing expectations across different product portfolios.

The Core Tech Stack

You absolutely must have hands-on experience with SAP IS-U, as it forms the backbone of the utility domain logic you will be translating into technical specifications. Beyond SAP, you need to be comfortable mapping out flows in Visio or Lucidchart and managing work items in Azure DevOps or Jira. If you happen to know a bit of SQL, C#, or Java, it will definitely help you speak the developers' language when reviewing technical designs.

Interview Expectations

Expect the hiring manager to throw a scenario at you about a botched quarterly release or a conflicting requirement from two different stakeholders; they want to see how you mediate and translate chaos into a clean technical spec. You will also likely be grilled on your SAP IS-U background, so be ready to walk through a specific integration or legacy system migration you handled in the past and how you mapped out the data flows.

Application Advice

Your resume needs to scream SAP IS-U and technical documentation right at the top. Make sure to highlight your experience with cross-functional collaboration, writing functional-to-technical specifications, and managing releases using Azure DevOps or Jira to get past the initial ATS filters. If you have any background in electric or gas utilities, put it front and center because that domain knowledge is your golden ticket here.
