Job Description & Details
This is a hands-on hybrid role for someone who knows how to wrangle engineering teams and keep a complex backlog from turning into a black hole. You'll be sitting right at the intersection of product vision and SRE-heavy engineering, making sure the gears keep turning without driving the developers crazy.
What You'll Actually Be Doing
You will spend your days deep in Jira pipelines, running sprint ceremonies, and translating vague stakeholder asks into concrete technical user stories. Your main challenge will be managing dependencies across an SRE-oriented pod in a strict banking environment, balancing technical debt remediation with feature delivery while keeping leadership informed on progress.
The Core Tech Stack
You need absolute mastery of Jira—we're talking about managing complex epics, features, and release pipelines without breaking a sweat. Beyond the tool, you need a solid grasp of modern software engineering and SRE concepts so you can talk architecture with the devs without sounding like a pure process robot.
Interview Expectations
Expect the hiring manager to ask you how you handle a situation where a critical SRE task clashes with a high-priority product feature right before a sprint lock. They are looking for your ability to negotiate priorities based on technical risk rather than just blindly following stakeholder pressure. They will also likely drill into your specific Jira workflows and how you structure backlogs for engineering-heavy pods.
Application Advice
Make sure your resume leans hard into your technical background, especially if you've worked with SRE, cloud, or infrastructure teams in financial services. Don't just list 'Agile' as a buzzword; highlight specific metrics around how you improved sprint velocity, cleaned up bloated backlogs, or successfully managed complex cross-team dependencies.
