Vendor Management Analyst

Systems Engineering Services

Job Description & Details

This is a hands-on Vendor Management Analyst role embedded within a procurement operations team, focusing heavily on data wrangling, spend reporting, and workflow automation. If you like digging through messy financial systems, untangling spreadsheet chaos, and building tools that make everyone's lives easier, this contract gig offers a great mix of data engineering and business stakeholder interaction.

What You'll Actually Be Doing

You'll spend a good chunk of your day pulling data out of SAP, SAP Ariba, and databases via DBeaver, then turning that raw information into clean, executive-ready spend and forecasting dashboards in Power BI and Excel. Beyond reporting, you'll actively hunt for data discrepancies across multiple systems, run investigative checks on supplier data to catch anomalies or potential fraud, and mentor two junior apprentices on the team. You're also expected to look at manual processes with a critical eye and use MS Power Automate to build workflows that strip out repetitive busywork.

The Core Tech Stack

Your absolute bread and butter here will be advanced Excel and Power BI for visualization, alongside DBeaver, SAP, and SAP Ariba for data extraction. Because the team is migrating data out of spreadsheets into proper applications, solid data management skills are non-negotiable. Add in MS Power Automate for streamlining daily workflows, and you have a stack that requires someone who is equally comfortable writing complex queries and designing intuitive dashboards.

Interview Expectations

Expect the interviewer to test your ability to handle messy, incomplete datasets by asking how you would reconcile spend data coming out of two completely different enterprise systems with mismatched schemas. They want to hear about your methodical approach to finding root-cause discrepancies and ensuring data integrity. You'll also likely be asked to walk through a time you automated a tedious manual process using low-code tools like Power Automate, where the hiring manager is secretly listening for your ability to identify operational bottlenecks without being micromanaged.

Application Advice

Make sure your resume doesn't just list tools, but explicitly highlights large-scale data migration projects, vendor management office (VMO) experience, and complex reporting achievements. Weave in exact keywords from the job description like 'spend analysis', 'Power BI dashboards', 'data reconciliation', and 'SAP Ariba' so you easily clear the ATS screening. Emphasize your background in process automation and data validation, and make it clear that you are someone who takes ownership and runs with ambiguous problems.
