Job Description & Details

This is a hands-on legal support role where you will be directly managing the chaos for a handful of busy attorneys in the Florida court system. If you know your way around local court filings, judge's chambers, and maintaining a mountain of case files without dropping the ball, this gig keeps you right in the thick of active litigation.

What You'll Actually Be Doing

You will spend your days keeping multiple attorneys sane by formatting and filing pleadings, motions, and subpoenas with the appropriate tribunals. Expect to handle calendar management for hearings, trials, and depositions, as well as booking court reporters, coordinating service of process, and occasionally dealing with travel arrangements or answering phones. It is a traditional legal secretarial role with zero room for guessing when it comes to court deadlines and local rules.

The Core Tech Stack

You need to be lightning-fast and accurate with Microsoft Office, specifically Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint. More importantly than the software, your real tech stack here is a deep working knowledge of the Florida court filing portals and docketing systems. The attorneys are going to rely on you to draft routine correspondence from templates and format complex legal docs correctly on the first try.

Interview Expectations

Expect the hiring team to test your practical knowledge of Florida procedural rules, likely asking you to walk through the exact steps you take when an emergency motion needs to be filed right before a deadline. They want to hear how you prioritize competing demands from three or four different attorneys without missing critical court dates, so have real examples ready of how you manage your calendar and handle high-stress situations.

Application Advice

Your resume needs to scream Florida legal experience right at the top. Make sure to explicitly mention terms like Florida court systems, e-filing, pleadings, discovery requests, and subpoena preparation to clear the ATS filters. If you have specific experience managing multiple attorney calendars and coordinating with judicial assistants, put that front and center so they know you can hit the ground running on day one.
