Job Description & Details

This is a heavy-hitting 12-month contract for a Senior DevOps Engineer and Cloud Architect who can walk into an enterprise environment and immediately take ownership of multi-cloud infrastructure. You'll be bridging the gap between development, security, and infrastructure teams in Pleasanton, meaning you need both deep technical execution skills and the communication chops to mentor junior staff.

What You'll Actually Be Doing

Your day-to-day will revolve around designing, deploying, and hardening enterprise cloud environments primarily in Azure, with a heavy emphasis on automation. You won't just be writing Terraform scripts; you will be architecting disaster recovery plans, setting up blue-green deployments, building robust CI/CD pipelines via GitHub Actions, and troubleshooting gnarly networking or performance bottlenecks across both Windows and Linux systems. Expect to collaborate closely with dev teams to streamline their deployments while keeping a strict eye on cost optimization and cloud governance.

The Core Tech Stack

To survive and thrive here, you need absolute fluency in Microsoft Azure architecture, Terraform for Infrastructure as Code, and advanced scripting in PowerShell, Python, or Linux Shell. The team heavily relies on GitHub Actions for CI/CD automation, and you'll need a rock-solid understanding of networking fundamentals like TCP/IP, DNS, firewalls, and load balancing. Hands-on experience managing enterprise-grade monitoring tools like Azure Monitor, alongside mixed Windows and Linux environments, is non-negotiable for keeping production running smoothly.

Interview Expectations

When you sit down with the engineering leads, expect them to test your architectural resilience by asking how you would design a zero-downtime, multi-region disaster recovery failover for a mission-critical web application. They aren't just looking for textbook definitions; they want to hear about your battle scars—specifically how you handle split-brain scenarios, data consistency, and RPO/RTO trade-offs. You should also be prepared for a deep-dive Terraform scenario where they test your state-file management strategies and how you handle complex module reuse across multiple environments without introducing tight coupling.

Application Advice

Make sure your resume doesn't just list technologies, but explicitly highlights complex Azure migrations, advanced Terraform modularization, and tangible CI/CD pipeline improvements you've built. Mirror the exact phrasing from the must-haves—such as 'Azure Cloud Architecture', 'Infrastructure as Code', and 'Cross-functional Collaboration'—to easily clear the initial ATS filters, and drop a direct note to Amanpreet to speed up your review.
