Robotics Engineer

Job Description & Details

This is a heavy-hitting, onsite Robotics Engineer role deeply embedded in automotive Body-in-White (BIW) manufacturing. You will be bridging the gap between digital simulation and physical plant execution, making it a high-impact position for someone who actually knows how production lines tick. If you enjoy solving complex clearance issues and driving new car model introductions, this is a solid career move.

What You'll Actually Be Doing

Your day-to-day will revolve around managing the full lifecycle of robotic cell development and deployment. You will be deep in plant investigations, feasibility studies, and heavy developmental engineering like interference-clearance analysis and weld spot distribution. Expect to juggle robot reach studies for welding, sealing, and handling processes while balancing strict cycle time requirements. You will also act as a crucial bridge by coordinating between the onsite stakeholders and offshore engineering teams to keep project milestones on track.

The Core Tech Stack

To survive and thrive here, you absolutely must have solid hands-on experience with 3DX for robotic simulation, and having Delmia V5 in your toolkit will give you a massive edge. Beyond the software, you need a sharp mechanical and manufacturing intuition around automotive BIW processes, including weld, paint, and final assembly lines. The team relies on your analytical problem-solving skills to troubleshoot issues on running lines and execute seamless production ramp-ups without halting factory operations.

Interview Expectations

Expect the hiring manager to throw a realistic scenario at you, such as how you would handle a sudden bottleneck where robot cycle times are exceeding targets during a new vehicle introduction on a running line. They are looking for your methodical approach to root-cause analysis, workflow re-balancing, and your ability to weigh simulation accuracy against physical constraints. You should also be ready to discuss a time when you managed an onsite-offshore coordination conflict and how you maintained project momentum.

Application Advice

When updating your resume, make sure your project history explicitly highlights your automotive BIW manufacturing background and your proficiency with 3DX robotic simulation right near the top. Don't just list software as keywords; describe the actual scope of the projects you simulated, including cycle time reductions and interference resolution. Weave terms like developmental engineering, equipment specification writing, and onsite-offshore coordination naturally into your experience bullets to easily clear the ATS filters.
