AWS Cloud Solutions Architect / Cloud Engineer

Job Description & Details

This 12-month contract puts you right in the middle of a heavy hybrid-cloud transformation with a heavy emphasis on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI). If you know your way around Oracle enterprise stacks, Exadata, and can bridge the gap between legacy on-prem infrastructure and modern cloud architecture, this gig is worth looking into. You will be spending 3 days onsite in New York, so local availability is definitely a requirement here.

What You'll Actually Be Doing

You'll spend your days designing enterprise-grade cloud architectures, leaning heavily on OCI while keeping AWS and Azure in your back pocket for multi-cloud requirements. Expect to collaborate with business stakeholders to map out migration strategies, build robust governance frameworks, and occasionally drop in to guide engineering teams through complex deployment hurdles. A lot of your time will go toward integrating hybrid infrastructure, touching everything from cloud networking and VLAN configurations to database replication setups like Oracle RAC and Data Guard.

The Core Tech Stack

You cannot fake the OCI experience here—they want 6 to 9 years of deep, hands-on Oracle Cloud expertise alongside solid fundamentals in hybrid infrastructure and cloud networking. You'll also need to be comfortable orchestrating Infrastructure as Code using Terraform and Ansible, plus working with heavy enterprise database tech like Exadata, ASM, and RMAN. Familiarity with AI technologies supported on cloud platforms and basic cloud FinOps round out the profile they are hunting for.

Interview Expectations

Expect the hiring team to grill you on your OCI deep-dive knowledge, specifically around designing High Availability and Disaster Recovery topologies. They might ask you to explain how you would architect a zero-downtime migration of a massive Oracle RAC database from an on-prem data center into OCI, keeping security and network latency tightly managed. The hiring manager is secretly looking for someone who doesn't just draw diagrams in Visio, but actually understands the pain points of patching, backups, and network routing in the real world.

Application Advice

To get past the ATS, your resume needs to explicitly feature keywords like 'OCI', 'Oracle Cloud Infrastructure', 'Terraform', 'Hybrid Infrastructure', and 'Oracle RAC'. Don't just list them in a skills section; weave them into your project descriptions by detailing how you designed scalable multi-cloud or hybrid environments and managed cloud networking constraints. Highlight any enterprise-scale migrations you've led to show you can handle the operational weight of this contract.
