Guidewire Business Analyst

Not Disclosed

Job Description & Details

This is a heavy-lifting Business Analyst role sitting right at the intersection of core P&C insurance business logic and Guidewire PolicyCenter technical execution. If you enjoy translating messy business rules from underwriters into clean functional requirements and untangling integration data flows, this gig will keep you busy in a good way.

What You'll Actually Be Doing

Your day-to-day will revolve around bridging the gap between business stakeholders and the technical delivery teams. You'll be deep into PolicyCenter workflows—handling submissions, underwriting adjustments, ratings, endorsements, renewals, and cancellations—while writing BRDs, user stories, and strict acceptance criteria. Expect to spend a significant amount of time wrangling data integrations, mapping fields, writing SQL queries to validate reconciliation between Guidewire and external systems, and helping QA triage defects during UAT.

The Core Tech Stack

You absolutely need hands-on experience with Guidewire PolicyCenter and a solid grasp of P&C insurance processes to survive here. Beyond that, the technical weight of this role sits on your ability to work with REST/SOAP APIs, XML, JSON, and writing proficient SQL for data analysis and validation. Having exposure to Guidewire DataHub or ETL pipelines is a huge plus since data mapping and downstream system integration are major components of this project.

Interview Expectations

The hiring managers are going to test your domain expertise and your technical fluency immediately. Expect them to ask you to walk through a complex end-to-end integration failure between PolicyCenter and a third-party rating engine, and explain how you would isolate whether the issue stems from the API payload, data mapping, or business logic. They want to see that you can think like an architect while acting as a BA, keeping both stakeholders and developers aligned without missing the technical nuances of XML/JSON payloads.

Application Advice

To get past the automated screens and land an interview, ensure your resume explicitly highlights your hands-on experience with Guidewire PolicyCenter modules and specific P&C workflows. Don't just list generic BA skills; explicitly mention your technical chops with SQL, REST/SOAP APIs, and data mapping. If you have any Guidewire certifications or experience working within Agile/Scrum environments using Jira for requirement traceability, make sure those keywords are front and center.
