Job Description & Details
This is a heavy-hitting AWS Data Architect role requiring you to be onsite five days a week in Reston, VA. You will be the primary technical authority steering enterprise application architecture, data governance, and large-scale software system integrations.
What You'll Actually Be Doing
Your day-to-day will involve translating ambiguous business requirements into rock-solid data workflows, software specifications, and architectural prototypes. You won't just draw diagrams; you will actively troubleshoot complex data infrastructure bottlenecks, resolve integration incompatibilities, and guide engineering teams on software design principles. Expect to spend a significant amount of time producing technical briefings, establishing enterprise data management policies, and reviewing major project milestones to ensure they align with long-term strategic goals.
The Core Tech Stack
The heavy lifting here requires deep expertise in AWS cloud services, Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA), and Agile development frameworks. You need a strong command of enterprise data management, systems interconnectivity, and data security standards. Because you'll be writing complex technical documents and acting as the bridge between high-level strategy and developer execution, fluency in system design patterns and structured analysis is absolute non-negotiable.
Interview Expectations
Interviewers will likely ask you to explain how you would design a zero-downtime data migration pipeline across disparate legacy systems while maintaining strict security compliance. They want to hear how you handle technical debt and manage stakeholder pushback when enforcing enterprise-wide architecture standards. Another common probe will test your diagnostic methodology: expect a scenario where a critical data infrastructure pipeline fails under heavy load, and they'll want to see how you systematically isolate, diagnose, and resolve the root cause.
Application Advice
To get past the ATS, your resume needs to explicitly mirror the phrasing found in the job description. Make sure keywords like 'Services Oriented Architecture', 'software systems applications', 'data governance', and 'systems interconnectivity' are prominent in your experience bullet points. Don't just list technologies; highlight instances where you authored complex technical documentation, drove enterprise-wide IT decisions, and successfully led software prototyping initiatives from conception to deployment.
