What You'll Actually Be Doing
You'll spend your days translating ambiguous business strategies into scalable, secure ServiceNow architectures. Expect to lead technical governance reviews, diagnose gnarly multi-threaded performance bottlenecks, and map out product roadmaps that prevent the platform from turning into technical debt. You will regularly bounce between deep-dive technical troubleshooting with admin teams and high-level strategy conversations with C-suite stakeholders, keeping everyone aligned on ITAM, ITSM, and emerging AI adoption.
The Core Tech Stack
You need absolute mastery over the core ServiceNow platform, specifically its data model including CMDB and CSDM, application development patterns, and robust integration frameworks. ITSM is mandatory, and you'll need solid production mileage in at least one other heavy-hitter workflow like ITOM, CSM, HRSD, or SecOps. Certifications aren't just nice-to-haves here; you're expected to bring your CSA, CAD, and CIS credentials to the table, plus familiarity with modern platform additions like Now Assist and Agentic AI.
