Job Description & Details
This is a heavy-hitting architecture role focused entirely on building and scaling field mobility and endpoint strategies for a massive, operations-heavy enterprise. You aren't just pushing software updates here; you are designing the offline-first tech stack that keeps engineers, asset managers, and frontline field workers connected when working in intermittent network zones. If you like high-stakes infrastructure that directly impacts physical operations, this is worth a look.
What You'll Actually Be Doing
Expect to spend your days knee-deep in platform rationalization, figuring out how to unify fragmented mobile devices, rugged hardware, and kiosks under a single cohesive architecture. You'll work closely with cybersecurity and network infrastructure to bridge the gap between corporate IT and field operations, ensuring that complex EAM, ERP, and GIS systems talk seamlessly to rugged mobile devices. Much of your time will go toward designing Zero Trust access models and resilient data synchronization patterns that don't break when a technician loses cell service in the middle of a maintenance job.
The Core Tech Stack
You need deep, battle-tested expertise in Unified Endpoint Management solutions like Microsoft Intune, VMware Workspace ONE, or Jamf. Mastery of multi-OS environments across iOS, Android, and Windows is non-negotiable, especially regarding ruggedized hardware and kiosk configurations. Because you'll be tying these devices into enterprise systems, strong foundational knowledge of API-driven integrations with EAM, ERP, and GIS platforms is critical, along with a solid grasp of ZTNA, Conditional Access, and offline-first data sync protocols.
Interview Expectations
Expect the hiring team to challenge you on your real-world experience designing offline-first architectures; they'll likely ask you to whiteboard a scenario where a field technician must complete inspections offline and sync gigabytes of asset data back to an enterprise system without data loss or corruption. They want to see how you handle conflict resolution between strict cybersecurity mandates and the operational flexibility required by frontline workers in the field, so come prepared with concrete examples of how you've balanced security with usability in past roles.
Application Advice
Skip the generic architectural buzzwords and focus heavily on concrete metrics and scale in your resume. Make sure explicit keywords like Unified Endpoint Management, Intune, Workspace ONE, Zero Trust, and offline-first architecture are prominently featured to easily clear the ATS filters. Emphasize any past projects where you successfully modernized a fragmented device fleet or integrated mobile tools with heavy enterprise software like Maximo, SAP, or GIS platforms.
