Job Description & Details

This Applications Developer role is focused on the heavy configuration, support, and customization of the FASTDS-VS COTS application in Atlanta. If you enjoy untangling enterprise COTS software and figuring out how to mold it to business needs through requirement gathering and scripting, this is a solid gig.

What You'll Actually Be Doing

Your day-to-day will be a mix of direct requirement analysis, setting up reference tables, managing user permissions, and handling change requests for the FASTDS-VS system. You won't just be writing greenfield code; you'll spend a good chunk of time debugging software, managing source control, writing implementation specs, and providing production support when things break. It requires a balanced mix of system administration mindset and hands-on technical troubleshooting.

The Core Tech Stack

To survive and thrive here, you need a solid foundation in a relational database with at least two years of SQL experience, alongside a couple of years of object-oriented development using .Net, Java, C#, or VB. The team also values familiarity with web services, APIs, AWS, and writing SQL stored procedures, so bring your database optimization and integration chops if you want to stand out from the other applicants.

Interview Expectations

Expect the interviewers to probe deeply into your experience with object-oriented principles and how you handle complex database queries or stored procedures when troubleshooting a live system. They will likely ask you to walk through a time you had to gather ambiguous requirements from non-technical stakeholders and translate them into a concrete configuration or change request, so have a strong STAR-method story ready.

Application Advice

Make sure your resume clearly highlights your two years of SQL and OO programming (.Net, Java, C#, VB) right at the top so the ATS picks it up immediately. Don't just list technologies; include specific mentions of requirement gathering, COTS configuration, and production support to show you understand the full application lifecycle they are managing.
