Job Description & Details
This is a solid 12-month contract-to-hire gig for a Java Developer with strong PL/SQL skills who doesn't mind heading into the Coppell office three days a week. You'll be working in the financial services space, meaning the code matters, legacy systems need untangling, and stability is just as important as shipping new features. If you enjoy bridging heavy backend database work with a modern frontend framework, this role hits that sweet spot.
What You'll Actually Be Doing
You'll spend your days building and enhancing enterprise-level applications that drive critical financial services workflows. Expect to write clean Java services, optimize complex PL/SQL queries that handle heavy data loads, and occasionally dip your toes into frontend components using React or Angular. The real challenge here is balancing tight enterprise requirements with legacy database architecture while ensuring everything performs under pressure.
The Core Tech Stack
You need absolute fluency in Java and strong PL/SQL because the database layer is going to be doing some heavy lifting. On top of that, hands-on experience with React (which they strongly prefer) or Angular is mandatory to tie the whole user experience together. They aren't looking for a pure backend engineer who has never touched a UI framework; you need to be comfortable bridging the gap between database logic and user-facing views.
Interview Expectations
Be ready for a deep dive into relational database optimization, where the interviewer might ask you how you would troubleshoot a complex PL/SQL query that is locking up a core financial transaction table. They want to see that you understand execution plans, indexing strategies, and how to write efficient SQL that doesn't bring the backend to a crawl. You'll also likely field questions on modern Java concurrency and state management in React, so make sure your fundamentals across the entire stack are sharp.
Application Advice
Skip the generic tech buzzwords and make sure your resume immediately highlights heavy backend Java work paired with complex SQL/PL/SQL query tuning. Explicitly state your level of experience with React, especially if you've built enterprise dashboards or financial UI components in the past. Mirroring the exact keywords like 'PL/SQL', 'Enterprise Technology', and 'React' will easily clear their automated ATS filters before a technical pair gets eyes on your profile.
