Job Description & Details
This is a heavy-duty healthcare integration gig focused on modernizing legacy data pipelines using Microsoft Azure and EDIFECS. You will be knee-deep in HIPAA transactions and cloud architecture, making sure vital healthcare data moves securely and without failure between payers and providers.
What You'll Actually Be Doing
You will spend your days designing, developing, and supporting complex EDI integrations using a mix of Azure services and EDIFECS. Expect to build and maintain Azure Logic Apps, Functions, and Integration Accounts while handling tricky EDI mapping, transformation, and validation. A good chunk of your time will also go toward configuring Trading Partner Agreements, implementing communication protocols like AS2, SFTP, and HTTPS, and relentlessly troubleshooting workflow bottlenecks or processing failures.
The Core Tech Stack
You absolutely must know EDIFECS inside and out, paired with solid Java and Spring Boot experience for custom REST API development. On the cloud side, mastery of Azure Functions, Logic Apps, and Integration Accounts is non-negotiable since they form the backbone of this integration layer. You also need a sharp working knowledge of healthcare HIPAA EDI transactions—specifically 278, 834, 837, 270, and 271—alongside an understanding of claims processing and enrollment workflows.
Interview Expectations
Expect the hiring team to grill you on how you handle silent failures or schema validation errors in high-volume Azure Logic Apps, and be ready to explain your exact strategy for debugging an AS2 transmission failure with a stubborn trading partner. The interviewer is secretly looking for resilience and deep architectural intuition; they want to know you won't panic when a critical batch of 837 claims stalls out in production.
Application Advice
To make your resume stick out to the ATS and the hiring manager, drop the generic buzzwords and put your hands-on EDIFECS and Azure integration metrics front and center. Explicitly list out the HIPAA transaction sets (278, 834, 837, etc.) you have personally mapped, and make sure your Java/Spring Boot experience is tied directly to healthcare payer workflows like claims processing or eligibility checking to prove you can hit the ground running.
