EDI Integration Developer

Job Description & Details

This is a heavy-duty, hands-on integration gig specifically tailored for someone who knows healthcare data inside and out. You'll be knee-deep in EDIFECS and Azure, keeping critical payer pipelines alive and breathing for the next year or more. If you hate legacy pipelines and want to work with modern cloud-native healthcare messaging, this one is worth a serious look.

What You'll Actually Be Doing

You'll spend your days building, deploying, and babysitting complex EDI workflows using Azure Functions, Azure Logic Apps, and Integration Accounts. Your main battleground will involve setting up trading partner agreements, handling messy mapping and validations, and troubleshooting failures before they blow up the claims or enrollment pipelines. Expect to constantly coordinate around HIPAA transactions like 278, 834, and 837, making sure data moves cleanly between systems without dropping packets.

The Core Tech Stack

You absolutely must have deep, battle-tested experience with EDIFECS EDI and solid Java development backed by Spring Boot and REST APIs. On top of that, fluency in Azure serverless architecture—specifically Azure Functions and Logic Apps—is non-negotiable since that's where all the heavy lifting happens. Throw in strong file transfer protocol knowledge (AS2, SFTP) and a rock-solid understanding of healthcare payer domains, and you've got the exact toolkit this team is leaning on.

Interview Expectations

Since they require a face-to-face meeting and 10+ years of experience, expect them to grill you on real-world troubleshooting scenarios. They will likely ask how you handle a scenario where an 837 transaction fails validation mid-stream in an Azure Logic App, and they'll want to hear about your specific debugging methodology. The hiring manager isn't just looking for textbook definitions; they want to see how you logically trace errors across EDIFECS components and cloud endpoints under tight operational pressure.

Application Advice

To get past the ATS and grab the recruiter's attention, make sure your resume explicitly highlights your hands-on EDIFECS implementations alongside Java and Spring Boot keywords. Don't just list HIPAA transactions; briefly mention specific projects where you configured 834, 837, or 278 pipelines using Azure cloud services. Since the role requires local face-to-face interaction, prominently state your proximity to Dayton, OH right at the top of your resume.
