Job Description & Details
This is a hands-on telemetry and observability role where you'll spend your days building the glass panels that keep complex distributed systems visible. If you like bridging the gap between raw data lakes and actionable operational dashboards without drowning in red tape, this gig is worth a serious look.
What You'll Actually Be Doing
You'll be knee-deep in Grafana development, pulling data from various sources to build real-time monitoring and visualization tools that engineering teams will actually rely on during incidents. Your day-to-day involves writing Java backend services, crafting JavaScript frontend components, and stitching together ETL pipelines and data lakes so that KPI tracking and proactive alerts actually work when things break in production.
The Core Tech Stack
You need to know your way around Grafana inside and out, specifically building custom dashboards that don't just look pretty but perform under heavy query loads. Solid Java and JavaScript fundamentals are mandatory for spinning up APIs and custom frontend components, while familiarity with time-series databases like Prometheus or InfluxDB and cloud platforms like AWS will keep you from getting stuck on infrastructure quirks.
Interview Expectations
Expect the hiring team to grill you on how you design dashboards that don't choke the underlying data sources when queried concurrently. They want to see that you understand cardinality, efficient PromQL or SQL queries, and how to structure Java microservices that reliably feed telemetry data into your monitoring stack.
Application Advice
Make sure your resume screams observability, not just generic full-stack development. Explicitly highlight your production experience with Grafana, Java APIs, and time-series data stores so the recruiters' ATS maps your profile directly to their telemetry requirements.
