Job Description & Details
This is a heavy-hitting architecture role where you aren't just writing code, but owning the entire ServiceNow footprint and steering strategic enterprise integrations. If you enjoy wrangling complex workflows, guiding developer teams, and designing large-scale platform roadmaps, this gig gives you the autonomy to actually build things right.
What You'll Actually Be Doing
Your days will be split between high-level architectural design and unblocking your engineering team. You'll spend plenty of time mapping out tricky enterprise integrations using REST and SOAP APIs, ensuring the platform doesn't slow to a crawl as custom apps pile up. Expect to translate vague business stakeholder requests into concrete technical designs while pushing back on spaghetti code and enforcing platform best practices.
The Core Tech Stack
You need deep, battle-tested expertise across core ServiceNow modules like ITSM, CSM, HRSD, ITOM, and ITAM, alongside rock-solid JavaScript for custom widget and script include development. Because integration is a huge focal point here, you must be entirely comfortable handling API payloads, data mapping, and database concepts using SQL without breaking a sweat.
Interview Expectations
Be prepared for a brutal deep-dive into platform performance bottlenecks and upgrade hazards; expect them to ask you how you would handle a massive failing integration during a major version upgrade. The hiring manager isn't just looking for textbook answers, they want to hear war stories about how you've cleaned up messy architectural debt in past enterprises without halting business operations.
Application Advice
Don't just list every ITIL buzzword on your resume and call it a day. Explicitly highlight your hands-on experience with SPM and large-scale integrations, using metrics to prove how you've optimized platform performance in previous roles. Make sure your JavaScript, REST API, and module-specific expertise jump off the page so you easily clear the initial ATS filters.
