Job Description & Details
This is a heavy-duty infrastructure role where you'll be juggling enterprise data centers, a growing Azure cloud footprint, and everything in between. If you like touching physical hardware while simultaneously designing cloud topologies, this gig keeps you on your toes.
What You'll Actually Be Doing
You'll spend your days managing hybrid infrastructure—racking Cisco gear on-prem one minute and troubleshooting Azure hub-and-spoke VNets the next. Expect to dive deep into Palo Alto firewalls, tuning App-IDs and SSL decryption, while keeping a close eye on multi-site WAN routing and NetApp storage replication. You will also take part in an on-call rotation and handle incident root-cause analysis when things inevitably go sideways.
The Core Tech Stack
You need absolute fluency in Palo Alto PAN-OS and Cisco routing/switching (Catalyst, Nexus, and UCS X-Series Fabric Interconnects). On the cloud side, solid production experience with Microsoft Azure networking—specifically peering, VPN gateways, and user-defined routes—is non-negotiable. BGP, OSPF, and EIGRP routing protocols wrap it all together to keep their multi-site WAN humming.
Interview Expectations
Expect them to grill you on subtle BGP path selection behaviors and how you troubleshoot asymmetric routing issues across a hybrid Azure-to-on-prem VPN tunnel. The hiring manager isn't just looking for textbook definitions; they want to hear your methodical, packet-capture-driven process for isolating intermittent latency drops across complex firewall and routing layers.
Application Advice
Make sure your resume doesn't just list technologies, but explicitly highlights your hands-on experience with Palo Alto firewalls, Cisco Nexus switches, and Azure VNets. Weave in keywords like BGP, OSPF, GlobalProtect, and NetApp ONTAP naturally so you easily clear the ATS, and emphasize any experience you have with root-cause analysis and rigorous network documentation.
