Senior Epic Systems Analyst

Job Description & Details

This is a specialized healthcare IT role focused heavily on interoperability, where you will spend your days wrangling interface engines and making sure disparate hospital systems actually talk to each other. If you like untangling complex data flows and keeping critical clinical applications running smoothly without constant hand-holding, this is right in your wheelhouse. It's a senior gig that demands autonomy, stakeholder diplomacy, and a deep understanding of how healthcare data moves behind the scenes.

What You'll Actually Be Doing

You will spend a good chunk of your time building, maintaining, and troubleshooting HL7 feeds, API integrations, and Epic Bridges connections. Day-to-day work involves gathering requirements from clinical and operational stakeholders, translating their messy workflows into technical interface specs, and testing the hell out of them before they hit production. You'll also navigate committee-driven discussions, meaning you'll need patience and clear communication to get consensus-based decisions across the finish line without losing your mind.

The Core Tech Stack

You absolutely must have your Epic Bridges Certification and the Epic FHIR Badge to even be considered here—those are non-negotiable gatekeepers. Beyond Epic, you need solid battle scars working with healthcare integration engines like Cloverleaf or standard enterprise service buses. The team relies on you to know HL7 inside and out, understand API architectures, and have a firm grasp of underlying healthcare data standards so you can jump into troubleshooting complex integration failures on day one.

Interview Expectations

Expect the hiring manager to throw a real-world scenario at you, such as a critical HL7 feed failing mid-day during an ADT surge, and ask you to walk them through your exact troubleshooting methodology from log analysis to vendor coordination. They are secretly testing whether you keep a cool head under pressure and can methodically isolate whether the issue lies in the Epic side, the integration engine, or the third-party endpoint. You'll also likely get grilled on how you handle competing priorities from non-technical stakeholders who all think their integration request is priority number one.

Application Advice

Make sure your resume doesn't just list certifications, but explicitly highlights complex interface implementations and API projects you've owned from start to finish. Weave in exact keywords from the job description like 'Epic Bridges', 'Epic FHIR', 'HL7', 'Cloverleaf', and 'stakeholder management' directly into your experience bullet points to clear the automated ATS filters. Emphasize your independent problem-solving abilities and any background you have working within consensus-driven or committee-heavy healthcare organizations.
