Senior Solution Architect

Job Description & Details

This is a heavy-duty cloud architecture contract focused strictly on building and securing Epic infrastructure on AWS. You'll need deep expertise in healthcare disaster recovery and AWS enterprise networking to pull this off under a tight deadline. If you don't have hands-on experience deploying Epic on a public cloud, you'll be completely out of your depth here.

What You'll Actually Be Doing

Your day-to-day will involve designing and executing complex AWS networking topologies, including Transit Gateways, inspection VPCs, and hybrid connectivity via Direct Connect or VPN. You'll lead a small engineering team through the architecture phase, authoring design documents that need to get approved fast. The core challenge is making sure the entire environment meets strict HIPAA compliance and zero-PHI delivery models while maintaining a clean vendor admin access model.

The Core Tech Stack

AWS is your primary playground, and you need to live and breathe its enterprise ecosystem. Specifically, you must master multi-account landing zone designs, AWS IAM least-privilege policy frameworks, and Transit Gateway routing. Having an AWS Certified Solutions Architect Professional certification is strongly preferred, but proven production experience with Epic disaster recovery, IRE, or Harbor projects is what will actually get you through the door.

Interview Expectations

Expect the interviewer to throw a complex networking scenario at you, asking how you would isolate inspection and endpoints VPCs while maintaining low-latency hybrid connectivity back to an on-premises datacenter. They want to hear how you design for redundancy without violating HIPAA boundaries. They will also likely drill down into your IAM strategy for third-party vendors, probing for specific ways you enforce least-privilege access and clean termination models.

Application Advice

Your resume needs to scream enterprise AWS networking and healthcare compliance right at the top. Make sure to explicitly highlight your experience with AWS Transit Gateway, multi-account landing zones, and any direct exposure to Epic infrastructure migrations or disaster recovery. Since this role requires strict adherence to U.S. business hours, holiday availability, and passing a healthcare-grade background check, make it clear that you are U.S.-based and ready to hit the ground running.
