Job Description & Details
This is a heavy-duty infrastructure migration gig where you will be orchestrating the move of an ITAR-regulated PLM platform within Azure Government. You're not building greenfield stuff here; you're dealing with strict compliance boundaries, tenant transfers, and keeping hundreds of users happy while ripping out and replacing core plumbing. If you enjoy untangling legacy setups in heavily regulated environments, this is right up your alley.
What You'll Actually Be Doing
Your day-to-day will revolve around executing a high-stakes cloud migration without breaking compliance or dropping service for about 850 users spread across production, test, and dev environments. You will be knee-deep in transferring Azure GCC High subscriptions, cutting over auth to a new enterprise directory, and untangling networking topologies. A major part of the workload involves rebuilding the reporting replication tier and modernizing data sync mechanisms ahead of the Azure SQL Data Sync retirement, all while documenting everything to satisfy ITAR and NIST constraints.
The Core Tech Stack
To survive this role, you need deep, hands-on fluency in Azure Government and GCC High endpoints, which come with their own unique quirks and service limitations compared to commercial cloud. You'll need rock-solid Azure networking skills—think VNets, NSGs, Private Links, and hybrid connectivity—alongside heavy database chops with Azure SQL, replication, and data factories. Combine that with a strong grasp of Entra ID, Windows Server IIS-hosted .NET apps, and IaC tools like Terraform or Bicep, and you have the exact toolkit needed to push this migration across the finish line.
Interview Expectations
Expect the hiring team to grill you on your direct experience with cross-tenant migrations or complex subscription transfers within Azure Government. They will likely present a scenario involving broken authentication cutovers or disrupted hybrid networking in an ITAR environment and ask you to troubleshoot it live. The interviewer is secretly looking for calm methodical problem-solving, deep familiarity with GCC High compliance guardrails, and proof that you won't accidentally leak or misconfigure sensitive data boundaries during the shuffle.
Application Advice
When updating your resume, ditch the generic cloud bullet points and make sure your experience with Azure Government, GCC High, and ITAR or NIST compliance is front and center. Explicitly highlight any past M&A, divestiture, or tenant-to-tenant migration projects you've driven, as those exact keywords are what the automated filters and hiring managers will hunt for to prove you can handle this specific operational risk.
