Job Description & Details

This is a hands-on weekend shift role focused on keeping enterprise hardware, mainframes, and critical infrastructure humming at all hours. If you don't mind working overnights on the weekend and handling physical data center upkeep alongside software monitoring, this position offers steady, reliable IT operations work.

What You'll Actually Be Doing

You will spend your weekends managing BPE/TPE transactions, keeping an eye on environmental and UPS systems, and making sure statewide network access stays uninterrupted. During the week, you'll pick up an extra 16 hours on a shift of your choice to handle production control, hardware and software vendor coordination, and high-quality output printing. Expect to troubleshoot server alerts, interface with facilities equipment like HVAC, and ensure physical security standards are met across the data center complex.

The Core Tech Stack

You need solid hands-on experience working in a large data center or Network Operations Center (NOC). Familiarity with distributed server environments running AIX, Linux, and Windows is a must, along with a firm grasp of enterprise job scheduling tools like Control-M and TPE/BPE Manager. Because this role touches physical infrastructure, practical knowledge of data center environmental controls, HVAC, and UPS electrical systems is just as important as knowing your way around an OS.

Interview Expectations

The hiring manager will likely test your incident response mindset by asking how you handle a sudden environmental failure, such as a raised floor temperature spike or a UPS warning during a weekend shift. They want to see that you can remain calm, systematically isolate whether it is a hardware, software, or facilities issue, and escalate appropriately. You should also be prepared to walk through your experience with batch scheduling failures in tools like Control-M and how you troubleshoot dependent jobs.

Application Advice

To get past the ATS for this local Atlanta role, make sure your resume explicitly highlights your hands-on data center operations background and mentions Linux, AIX, and Windows server environments. Drop specific keywords like Control-M, BPE/TPE Manager, NOC, and environmental monitoring into your experience bullets so the recruiter immediately sees you've managed large-scale infrastructure before.
