Job Description & Details
This is a solid core automation role embedded within a high-stakes Credit Card engineering team. You will not just be writing scripts; you will be directly responsible for ensuring financial transactions and credit workflows don't break in production. If you enjoy combining heavy Java automation with API validation in a fast-paced fintech environment, this gig is worth your attention.
What You'll Actually Be Doing
Your day-to-day will revolve around building, maintaining, and scaling automated test suites for critical credit card systems. You will spend a good chunk of your time writing robust Selenium and Cucumber scripts, bridging UI testing with solid API automation using Playwright, JUnit, or TestNG. Beyond just coding tests, you will integrate these suites directly into CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, Maven, and Git. You will also collaborate heavily with Product Owners and Agile teams during sprint ceremonies, occasionally rolling up your sleeves for manual testing when automation isn't practical.
The Core Tech Stack
You absolutely must know Java inside and out, as it forms the bedrock of their entire automation framework. Paired with that, deep hands-on experience with Selenium and Cucumber is non-negotiable for UI testing, while Playwright, JUnit, or TestNG will be your bread and butter for API automation. They also expect you to be comfortable navigating CI/CD environments with Jenkins, Maven, and Git. Previous exposure to banking or credit card domains is a massive plus because you'll need to grasp complex financial logic quickly without much hand-holding.
Interview Expectations
Expect the hiring team to test your practical framework design knowledge rather than just asking textbook definitions. You will likely be asked how you handle flaky UI tests in a heavily asynchronous CI/CD pipeline, and the interviewer is secretly looking for your strategies around explicit waits, test isolation, and retry mechanisms. They will also drill down into your API automation approach, specifically how you mock dependencies or handle state management when testing transactional credit workflows. Be prepared to whiteboard a mock test architecture on the spot.
Application Advice
To get past the ATS and land an interview, ensure your resume loudly highlights your technical proficiency in Java, Selenium, and API testing frameworks. Don't just list tools; explicitly mention metrics around how many test cases you automated, how you integrated them into Jenkins pipelines, and any BDD (Behavior Driven Development) methodologies you utilized. Dropping industry keywords like Credit Card, API Automation, Cucumber, and CI/CD right at the top of your professional summary will immediately signal to the recruiter that you can hit the ground running.
