Field Service Engineering Supervisor

Toyota Material Handling North America

Job Description & Details

This is a hands-on technical leadership role where you will bridge the gap between field operations, product engineering, and customer escalations for iWarehouse systems. If you like the idea of moving out of pure individual contributor work while staying close to complex hardware, software, and networking troubleshooting, this is a solid career step.

What You'll Actually Be Doing

You'll spend your days juggling team mentorship, cross-functional product development reviews, and high-level technical escalations. One minute you're coaching support agents through a brutal troubleshooting loop, and the next you're collaborating with core engineering to ensure new product builds won't break when deployed in the field. Expect to deal with complex material handling systems, review technical service documentation, and occasionally jump on flights since this role requires up to 50% travel and a rotating 24/7 on-call schedule.

The Core Tech Stack

While this is a supervisory position, you need to understand the underlying infrastructure. You'll be dealing with systems integration, wireless networking infrastructure, and basic software programming concepts in Linux, C, and C+. Familiarity with Raymond material handling equipment and strong foundational PC application skills are essential because you'll be auditing technical manuals and troubleshooting system functionality that spans hardware-software boundaries.

Interview Expectations

Expect the hiring panel to test your ability to handle pressure and high-stakes communication. They'll likely ask you to walk through a scenario where a critical customer system goes down and your field team is stumped, probing to see how you balance immediate triage with root-cause documentation. They are secretly looking for your communication EQ: can you explain a deeply technical networking or software failure to a non-technical stakeholder without sounding condescending?

Application Advice

Make sure your resume clearly highlights any intersection of technical engineering, customer-facing support, and team leadership. Don't just list tools; emphasize your experience with systems integration, networking, or material handling if you have it. Weave exact keywords from the job description like 'Standard Work Documentation', 'systems integration', and 'cross-functional leadership' into your professional summary to get past the initial ATS filters.
