Job Description & Details
This is a heavy-duty, hands-on Computer Operator gig in Atlanta covering weekend night shifts plus an extra 16 hours during the week. You are going to be knee-deep in physical data center operations, facility environmental monitoring, and mainframe support while keeping the lights on for state systems.
What You'll Actually Be Doing
You'll spend your shifts manning the NOC, keeping a close eye on BPE/TPE transactions, and monitoring critical facility infrastructure like HVAC, UPS systems, and data center security. On top of the hardware monitoring and vendor coordination, you will manage automated job schedules using Control-M, handle print outputs, and juggle incident management when things go sideways on the weekend.
The Core Tech Stack
You need solid, battle-tested familiarity with Control-M for job scheduling, TPE/BPE Manager, and deep operational knowledge of AIX, Linux, and Windows distributed servers. Networking fundamentals like LAN/WAN, MPLS, TCP/IP, and SNA are a must, along with a firm grasp of ITIL frameworks for incident, change, and asset management.
Interview Expectations
Expect the hiring manager to throw a scenario at you about a sudden power or cooling failure in the data center and ask how you would coordinate with facility vendors while keeping mission-critical jobs running. They also want to test your mettle on Control-M job failures, so brush up on how you troubleshoot dependency blocks and rerun failed steps cleanly.
Application Advice
Make sure your resume explicitly calls out your hands-on data center environment experience, specifically mentioning HVAC, UPS, and security oversight alongside pure IT operations. Highlight exact keywords like NOC, Control-M, TPE/BPE, and ITIL right at the top so the automated resume scanners pick them up without making the human reviewer hunt for them.
