Job Description & Details
This is a heavy-duty industrial data gig focused on wrangling real-time telemetry using the AVEVA OSIsoft PI ecosystem. If you enjoy building robust asset frameworks and making plant-floor data actually usable for stakeholders, this 12-month contract in Tampa is worth a serious look.
What You'll Actually Be Doing
You will spend your days architecting, building, and maintaining PI AF templates and PI Vision dashboards that track critical metrics like OEE and condition-based monitoring. Your core challenge will be bridging the gap between operational technology on the plant floor and enterprise applications, ensuring that industrial data flows smoothly via SQL, RTQP, and various OLEDB providers without bringing down production data pipelines.
The Core Tech Stack
You need absolute mastery over the AVEVA OSIsoft PI System, specifically PI AF development and PI Vision dashboard creation. On top of the core historian skills, you must be comfortable writing complex SQL queries and integrating PI data using RTQP and PI OLEDB Enterprise. Having .NET, Angular, or PI AF SDK in your toolkit is a massive bonus that will help you build custom displays and extensions beyond out-of-the-box capabilities.
Interview Expectations
Expect the hiring manager to drill down into your experience with complex AF hierarchy design and how you handle performance tuning when dealing with millions of tag events. They will likely ask you to walk through a specific scenario where a PI Vision display failed or lagged under heavy data loads, and they are secretly looking for your methodical approach to troubleshooting data integration bottlenecks and optimizing SQL queries for industrial datasets.
Application Advice
Make sure your resume screams AVEVA PI and OSIsoft administration right at the top, avoiding generic IT buzzwords that don't apply to operational technology. Explicitly highlight your hands-on work with PI AF templates, PI Vision, OEE, and CBM use cases so the recruiter's ATS immediately flags you as a specialist who has actually worked in manufacturing or industrial environments.
