This is a heavy-hitting, senior-level contract role bridging deep SAP S/4HANA functional modules with modern cloud data infrastructure. If you don't know your way around Plant Maintenance and Production Planning while also slinging complex SQL and HANA views, you're going to drown here.
What You'll Actually Be Doing
You'll spend your days acting as the translator between old-school manufacturing stakeholders and modern data pipelines. Expect to deep-dive into complex work order management, predictive maintenance cycles, and MRP quirks in S/4HANA, then immediately turn around and figure out how to pipe that operational data effectively into Google Cloud Platform. You won't just be configuring standard modules; you'll be architecting custom analytical solutions, defining KPIs, and ensuring the business actually gets actionable insights out of their massive asset footprints.
The Core Tech Stack
You need absolute mastery over SAP S/4HANA Plant Maintenance (EAM/PM) and Production Planning (PP), but that's only half the battle. The client heavily relies on SAP HANA data modeling, custom CDS views, and hardcore SQL development. On top of that, you need working exposure to Google Cloud Platform—specifically understanding how to bridge on-prem or private cloud SAP architectures with GCP data services like BigQuery and Dataproc without breaking data integrity.
Interview Expectations
Expect them to grill you on a whiteboard scenario where an asset-intensive manufacturing process is bottlenecking at MRP, and you need to redesign the entire S/4HANA workflow while optimizing the underlying HANA views for cloud reporting. They want to see if you can balance pragmatic functional configuration with clean database performance, so be ready to defend your architectural choices when handling heavy transactional loads.
