Job Description & Details
This is a heavy-duty federal implementation role requiring an active Secret clearance and deep expertise in SAP EHS S/4HANA. You will be parachuting into a complex public sector ecosystem to align rigid compliance frameworks with modern enterprise software, meaning you need both strong consulting patience and hard-core configuration chops.
What You'll Actually Be Doing
Expect to spend your days knee-deep in workshops with federal stakeholders who know their environmental and safety regulations inside and out, but might struggle to articulate how they map into SAP. You'll be leading the end-to-end design of Incident Management, Health and Safety, and Waste Management components, sweating the details on custom reports and ensuring your EHS module plays nicely with Plant Maintenance and HCM without breaking data integrity during testing phases.
The Core Tech Stack
At the center of everything is SAP EHS Management within an S/4HANA environment. You cannot fake your way through this; the team needs someone who knows S/4HANA EHS specific data models and Fiori apps for incident reporting. Familiarity with DoD ERP landscapes and how defense logistics intersect with safety compliance is a massive multiplier here, alongside a solid grasp of integration touchpoints with PM and HCM.
Interview Expectations
The hiring managers are going to probe deeply into how you handle scope creep and conflicting requirements from non-technical stakeholders in a regulated environment. Be ready for a scenario question on how you would configure a complex incident management workflow that spans multiple military installations, where they are secretly looking to see if you can balance out-of-the-box SAP best practices with rigid government compliance mandates without resorting to messy custom code.
Application Advice
Do not just drop buzzwords on your resume; explicitly highlight every full-cycle S/4HANA EHS implementation you have led, especially those involving federal, defense, or highly regulated public sector clients. Make sure your clearance status (Active T3/Secret) and U.S. citizenship are front and center at the top of your resume so the recruiter can instantly clear the compliance hurdle before your technical merits are even reviewed.
