Microsoft Exchange Administrator / Architect

Job Description & Details

This is a heavy-duty infrastructure role focused entirely on complex messaging environments, hybrid architectures, and large-scale migrations. If you enjoy untangling deeply nested mail flows and wrangling tenant-to-tenant migrations without taking down corporate comms, this one's for you.

What You'll Actually Be Doing

You'll spend your days designing, implementing, and managing enterprise-grade Exchange environments, keeping a close eye on both on-prem servers and cloud tenants. Your main battles will involve troubleshooting stubborn mail flow issues, configuring strict transport rules, and executing seamless migrations while ensuring zero dropped packets or unhappy executives. Automation is your best friend here, so you'll be leaning heavily on PowerShell to eliminate manual bottlenecks.

The Core Tech Stack

You absolutely need deep, battle-tested experience with Microsoft Exchange Server, Exchange Online, and Hybrid Exchange setups. Alongside that, mastery of SMTP, DNS, mail connectors, Active Directory, and Microsoft Entra ID is non-negotiable. If you haven't lived in PowerShell writing scripts for automation and mass administration, you'll find yourself falling behind very quickly here.

Interview Expectations

Expect the hiring team to hand you a scenario where a critical executive's emails are bouncing due to a bizarre hybrid routing loop or a DNS/SPF misconfiguration; they want to hear your exact thought process for debugging mail traces under pressure. You'll also likely be quizzed on architecting a disaster recovery strategy for an Exchange environment spanning multiple regions, so be ready to explain how you handle high availability, DAGs, and RTO/RPO expectations.

Application Advice

Don't just list Exchange on your resume; explicitly highlight the scale of the environments you've managed and specific migration projects you've driven from start to finish. Make sure keywords like Hybrid Exchange Architecture, Exchange Online, Mail Flow, and PowerShell Automation are prominent in your experience section to ensure you easily sail past the ATS filters.
