Project Manager

Tri-Force Consulting Services

Job Description & Details

This is a heavy-hitting government health IT role where you'll be driving the rollout of complex Medicaid Management Information System modules. If you enjoy wrangling multiple vendors, navigating state bureaucracy, and keeping massive data warehousing initiatives on track, this 12-month contract in Boise will definitely keep you busy.

What You'll Actually Be Doing

Your day-to-day will revolve around keeping the master schedule intact while juggling deliverables from various vendors and state teams. You'll be the bridge between technical execution and executive leadership, constantly monitoring risks, tracking the critical path for the EDW, and presenting progress reports to department execs and legislative bodies. Expect to spend a lot of time unblocking dependencies, aligning stakeholders, and making sure the final product actually meets state requirements without blowing past the budget.

The Core Tech Stack

You need a deep background in managing healthcare or state government technology initiatives, specifically around Medicaid systems and legacy-to-modern data conversions. While you won't be writing code, a firm grasp of data aggregation, analytics, and enterprise reporting is non-negotiable because you'll need to prioritize execution and make sense of complex data migration tracks. Change management experience is also crucial here since you'll be driving the training and rollouts.

Interview Expectations

Expect the interview panel to probe heavily into how you handle vendor mismanagement and scope creep. They'll likely ask you to describe a time when a critical project milestone was at risk due to external vendor delays and how you exposed the issue early to get it back on track. The hiring managers are secretly looking for political savvy and clear communication skills—they want to know you can deliver bad news to executives early and offer a concrete mitigation strategy rather than scrambling at the last minute.

Application Advice

To get past the ATS, make sure your resume heavily features exact phrases from the job description like "Medicaid Management Information System," "critical path," "vendor management," and "legacy data conversion." Don't just list generic agile buzzwords; highlight specific metrics from past government or healthcare projects where you successfully managed budgets, schedules, and cross-functional state teams.
